How to use these Bible questions with kids
Read a short Bible story or a few verses together. A children's Bible works well for little ones. Then ask one to three questions from this page. Let your child answer in their own words. There are no wrong answers when they are sharing what they noticed or felt.
- Ages 4 to 6: Ask one question. Let them draw the answer and tell you about it. You can write down their words.
- Ages 7 to 9: Ask two questions. They can write a sentence or two and add a drawing.
- Ages 10 to 12: Ask three questions, including one about how the story fits their own life.

Tips for parents and teachers
- Keep it short. Five to ten minutes is plenty for most kids.
- Let them draw. Drawing is real journaling, especially for young children.
- Read together first. Use a children's Bible for little ones and a simple translation for older kids.
- Listen more than you teach. Ask, wait, and enjoy what they notice.
- Make it special. Let kids decorate their journal cover with stickers or washi tape.
- Be consistent. Same time each day, like after breakfast or at bedtime.
- Write with them. Kids love seeing a parent or teacher journal too.
- Celebrate answered prayers. Look back each month and thank God together.

Questions people ask
What are good Bible journal questions for kids?
Simple questions work best. Who is the story about? What did God do? How did the people feel? What would you have done? What can you do this week because of this story? Young kids can answer by drawing, and older kids can write a few sentences.
How do I start a Bible journal with my child?
Get a notebook your child can decorate. Read a short Bible story together, then ask one or two questions from this page. Let them draw or write their answer, and finish with a short prayer. Try to do it at the same time each day, even for just five minutes.
What age can kids start Bible journaling?
Kids as young as four can start by drawing a picture of a Bible story while a parent writes down what they say. By seven or eight, most kids can write a sentence or two. By ten to twelve, they can answer deeper questions about how the story fits their life.
Which Bible stories are best for kids to journal about?
Creation, Noah's ark, David and Goliath, Daniel and the lions, Jonah, the birth of Jesus, Jesus calming the storm, the feeding of the 5,000, the lost sheep, Zacchaeus and Easter are all great. Each one has a clear lesson about God's love and care.
Should I correct my child's answers?
Gently, and only when it matters. If they get a fact of the story wrong, you can read that part again together. When they share how they feel or what they noticed, just listen and encourage them. The goal is to help them love God's Word.
